'London's Revolting Histories' Walk for Schools

We are pleased to extend our series of walks to include a specifically tailored 'Revolting History' day walk for schools/ groups and clubs.

The walks take place around one of London's most historical areas: Smithfield Meat Market.

Encompassing over two thousand years of London’s habitation, the walk stops at several historical locations and buildings associated with the capital's sometimes gruesome and horrid past. Each tour last approximately 90mins and deals with various social matters associated with the medieval period, the Tudors, Elizabethans and crime and punishment through the ages. Interaction is encouraged by two costumed guides. With access to either the cells of a Victorian gaol or one of the capitals oldest churches, each walk can be tailored to specific requirements suited to pupils at both Key Stages 2-4 but also suitable for teens and those in higher education. With the main emphasis on social history and London's 'revolting past' the tour includes a number of associated ghost stories.

Package 1: Walk with 2 costumed guides and entrance to St Bartholomew the Great church

Package 2: Walk with 2 costumed guides and entrance to gaol cells beneath Viaduct Tavern (please note the pub is not accessible at weekends and after 5pm)

Price: £7 per head

Price: £8 per head (includes reduced entrance fee to St Bart’s Church)

Minimum payment £105.00 for group

Maximum of each group: 25 people (due to health and safety)
